The OpenNebula team is excited to announce the availability of OpenNebula 7.4 “Helix”! This release introduces a broad set of usability, automation, and operational improvements across the platform for operating virtualized infrastructure at scale, led by a redesigned Sunstone interface that makes day-to-day cloud management more modern and intuitive. This release also introduces OneKS Elastic Kubernetes and LVM storage as Community Edition features — now available to all OpenNebula users!

Platform Notes

This page will show you the specific considerations when using an OpenNebula cloud, according to the different supported platforms.

This is the list of the individual platform components that have been through the complete OpenNebula Quality Assurance and Certification Process.

Note

For supported deployments, hypervisor nodes in the same Cluster must run the same operating system and version. In High Availability Front-end deployments, all Front-end nodes must also run the same operating system and version. Homogeneous deployments require matching both the OS distribution and its release version.

ARM64 packages

Since OpenNebula version 6.10.3-EE and 6.10.0.1-CE releases include ARM64 packages for all supported operating systems. This initiative aims to extend OpenNebula’s flexibility by enabling deployment on ARM-based servers (both hypervisors and Front-end nodes), opening new possibilities for lightweight, distributed cloud environments.

Compatibility Guide

OpenNebula Editions and Subscription Options

OpenNebula offers a range of subscriptions and extensions to suit various operational and business requirements. Organizations can choose subscription models that provide support, maintenance, and access to additional software extensions.

The OpenNebula documentation uses the following suffixes in page titles to identify which features are extensions related to a specific subscription or software edition:

EE - Refers to features that are Enterprise Extensions and are only available to customers with an Enterprise Subscription
AE - Refers to features that are AI Factory Extensions and are only available to customers with an AI Factory Subscription
CE - Refers to the Community Edition, available to all users

Refer to the OpenNebula website for further information about subscriptions and commercial services.
